Conveying Cereal Ingredients for Granola Bars

Customer Challenge

A dry material handling equipment supplier representing a leading company in taste and nutrition for the food and beverage industry contacted Triple/S Dynamics looking to install a new line to convey cereal ingredients for granola bars from seven weigh belts and two feeders to a pneumatic conveying system.

This new line was the first phase of a two-phase plant expansion. The client’s biggest concern was product segregation. The ingredient mix combined particles of widely different densities, creating a high risk that lighter and heavier components would separate during transport. Layered or sifted product would compromise the recipe consistency required for finished granola bars.

The installation also had tight overhead clearance constraints that ruled out taller conveyor profiles. The customer needed a sanitary, food-grade conveyor that could move a mixed-density ingredient blend at production rates without separating it, and fit within an existing footprint.

Triple/S Solution

To eliminate the concerns of product segregation, Triple/S Dynamics provided the client with videos conveying a mix of products with different densities to prove segregation would not be an issue and also provided the client with representative drawings of the proposed conveyor to drop into their layout to confirm no clearance issues.
