Conveying Dusty Ceramic Pellets

A ceramic pellets producer has a dust problem. The dust generated from a cutting process was causing bearings on the existing belt conveyor to fail very quickly. Access to the bearings, which ran the length of the belt conveyor, was difficult and cumbersome so maintenance was a continual problem.
A Slipstick horizontal motion conveyor was recommended. Because the horizontal motion conveyor commonly consists of a one-piece, seamless pan riding on suspension points spaced periodically along its length, both the pan’s interior and exterior surface can be easily accessed for wipe-downing cleaning. There are no support frames or springs under the conveyor pan (which would introduce cracks, crevices or other dust collecting places) that need to be cleaned. The producer replaced the belt conveyor with a Slipstick horizontal motion conveyor. Because the conveyor’s entire drive unit is totally enclosed and could be located at one end, the conveyor’s moving parts are not exposed to dust.
Since the first installation, this producer replaced all of their belt conveyors with Slipstick Conveyors.
