TEXAS SHAKER Featured on the cover of Powder Bulk Engineering

texas shakerFebruary, 2010 -- The Texas Shaker preprocessing screener removes dirt and sticks from fieldharvested in-hull almonds at Kernpareil Almonds in Wasco, Calif. First, dirt is removed in the screener’s 6-foot-long screening section, then the almonds and sticks enter a 6-foot-long alignment section. In this section, some of the stick-free almonds drop through perforations for transfer to the process, and the remainder, with sticks, enters a stick-extraction zone. After the sticks and dirt are removed, the almonds are ready for further processing. Dual-purpose screener is 6 feet wide by 12 feet long and preprocesses almonds at 60 t/h. Screener’s four-bearing vibrator is powered at a constant speed by a 5-horsepower motor.

Horizontal Motion: The Smoother, Gentler Way to Convey

Accumulation System

slipstick accumulation system

Dallas, TX --- The Slipstick conveyor has a horizontal discharge bin with optional product dams that are designed to be quickly and easily sanitized and reduce the risk of cross contamination between product runs. The conveyor’s trough may be open-ended, close-ended with a discharge rate control weir or extended for accumulation and discharge to multiple locations over long distances between receiving locations. The horizontal motion of the Slipstick allows product to build depth behind a pneumatically lowered product dam without product-damaging impact against the dam. As seen in Food Engineering magazine.

Gravity Separator

Gravity Separator

Dallas, TX --- The compact T-15 gravity separator features simplified and rugged controls to assure that machine settings will be trouble-free and drift-free. Material is fed onto a flat porous deck that is sloped in two directions. Low-pressure air is forced through the deck to fluidize and stratify the material bed. A vibrating action is applied to the deck to convey the heavier particles, which have sunk to the bottom of the material bed, up the inclination of the deck. Lighter particles are suspended in the rising airflow and slide down the slope of the deck. The final result, presented at the discharge face of the deck, is a continuous gradation of material from the densest, largest particles to the lightest, smallest particles. As seen in Powder Bulk Solids magazine.

Excited-Base Vibratory Conveyor Tex Flex Excited Base Vibratory Conveyor

Dallas, TX --- The TEX-FLEX excited base vibratory conveyor utilizes a single maintenance-free rotary electric vibrator. It is mounted to an isolated conveyor frame to energize the leaf springs supporting the conveyor pan to produce the maximum conveying action with minimal power requirements. For most applications, the power requirement is less than 1 HP. The rotary electric vibrator is inverter-driven allowing easy adjustment of conveyor speed and has adjustable eccentric weights allowing the force output and resulting conveyor stroke to be easily changed in the field to optimize conveying efficiency. It is equipped with stainless steel conveyor pans and Steel-It painted conveyor frames. As seen in Powder Bulk Solids magazine. Also featured in Food Manufacturing Magazine.

Inerts Separators Provide Clean MSWStoner

Dallas, TX -- These Inerts Separators are designed for the removal of glass, grit, dirt, non-ferrous metals and other non-combustibles from screened MSW. The S-30 separator is the largest model available with a capacity of 25 tons/hour of two-inch trom-mel undersize material and will handle the minus two-inch output from a line processing 100 tph of raw MSW. Smaller capacity machines are also available.

The separation is made on an inclined, perforated surface, which is vibrated with a conveying motion. Fluidizing air is blown through the surface, creating an air slide for the light fraction, while the vibration causes the heavier inerts fraction to move upslope away from the light fraction discharge. Because the light fraction does not have to be entrained in an air stream, as in a simple aspirator or “air knife,” the risk of entrainment of fine inerts such as glass and sand, is eliminated, with a consequent significant improvement in separation efficiency.

Sixty percent of the non-combustibles in a raw MSW stream can be concentrated in the 20 percent that will pass a two-inch diameter hole in the primary trommel. But of this 20 percent, as much as 50 percent will be combustible material, the balance consisting of highash non-combustibles, including as much as 90 percent of all the incoming glass, along with dirt, stones and metals.

Inerts Seperator technology differentiates by density between non-combustible inerts and organic combustibles, with only the “grit” rejected. These Inerts Separators can increase the yield of combustibles, net of ferrous materials, to as much as 90 percent of the input, while reducing total ash to as little as 15 percent or less. Horizontal Motion Conveyor Reduces Labor Costs

Dallas, TX --- A major coffee manufacturer suffered from decreased line yields and an increase in clean up time using a vibratory overs screener.  An excess portion of quality product was being screened to scrap and the enclosed belt conveyor was hard to clean due to the lack of accessibility. The belt conveyor was totally enclosed to contain dust.

Triple/S Dynamics installed two Slipstick horizontal motion conveyors to solve the series of problems. The gentle conveying action of slow advance, quick return motion is easier on the product.  The stainless steel sanitary conveyor pan trough is equipped with hinged covers for dust containment and the covers have quick release latches for ease of cleaning access.   The Slipstick is designed for long, trouble-free service life. Mechanically, it’s based on a minimum of moving parts, with the fully enclosed drive mechanism consisting only of bearing-mounted, gear-coupled shafts.  Durability is ensured through our dedication to solid construction throughout.

The result of the Slipstick conveyors is screen blinding dramatically decreases which results in reducing the amount of good product being bypassed to scrap.  And increased productivity and decreased clean up time were the expectations of the coffee manufacturer.

Case history can also be found in the May, 2009 Powder Bulk Engineering magazine.

Horizontal Motion Conveyor Reduces Labor Costsdeshingling slipstick

Dallas, TX --- A Midwest nut and snack company reduced the number of line workers from four to one.   The company was suffering from increased labor costs and decreased line yields because chocolate covered pretzels were shingling.   Several line workers were needed to manually align the product downstream of the vibratory conveyor.  The vibrating conveyor was shingling the pretzels due to the vertical pitching motion to propel material with repeated impacts.

Triple/S Dynamics installed a Slipstick De-shingling Conveyor.  The gentle horizontal, slow-advance, quick-return motion combined with aligning lanes and special de-shingling ramps provided high de-shingling efficiency and also reduced salt loss from pretzels.  The unique horizontal differential motion glides the product down the pan, eliminating breakage problems for fragile foods.  The consistent conveying motion throughout the length, width, and depth of the product bed helps prevent the build-up of oily fines. And because it isn’t dependent on impact to provide motion, the Slipstick conveys deep product beds uniformly, with no stratification.

The Slipstick De-shingling Conveyor increased productivity by significantly reducing the number of shingled pretzels that resulted in scrap, therefore increased line yields and reduced labor costs.  As seen in Powder Bulk Engineering

Slipstick® Horizontal Motion Conveyor Features Unique Conveying Motion

Horizontal Motion Conveyor

Dallas, Texas – Featuring a slow-forward, quick-return conveying motion, The Slipstick® horizontal motion conveyor from Triple/S Dynamics is the most important advancement in horizontal conveying since the invention of the vibrating conveyor.  Unlike conventional vibrating conveyors, the Slipstick won’t compromise food quality or present a safety hazard, whether it’s utilized in food processing plants or bulk product manufacturing.  The low impact motion preserves the integrity of the product conveyed, while the elimination of external springs, belts, and rollers ensures safer operation.

This low-impact motion is gentle on products as well as on the conveyor, resulting in lower maintenance costs and a longer operating life than other mechanical conveyors. The Slipstick can also operate at multiple speeds and in reverse, while vibrating conveyors are confined to one-speed and one-direction.  The Slipstick conveyor is ideal for food products, pharmaceuticals, heavy loads, fragile products, abrasive products, powders and other bulk products.

Since 1888, Triple/S Dynamics has been providing specialized conveying and dry-bulk-material separation equipment to the food, chemical, agricultural, mining, recycling and other material processing industries. For more information call 800-527-2116 or

When One Screener is Better than Two

Dallas, Texas – Adding production capacity to an already crowded processing line can feel like asking for your cake and eating it too. Most often, increasing production means building a plant addition. But one potash producer was able to increase production by finding a more efficient screener. Read the entire story as printed in Powder and Bulk Engineering.

World of Wire Chopping

Dallas, Texas – Over the years that Triple/S and its predecessors forged into the mining and agricultural industries, the company also continued to develop its niche in cable and wire chopping systems, building on its early work on the Genera Cable granulator and scrap separation air tables.

The result today is a key role in the manufacturer of automated cable and wire chopping lines, which have become the predominant way of processing wire and cable. Hand-stripping of cable, while still done, is too labor intensive to retain worldwide spread appeal. And the old method of simply burning insulation from wire is now banned through much of the world. Furthermore, although burning off insulation is technically still possible using approved incinerators and air pollution control equipment, it would be an expensive proposition, Triple/S says. Transporting Hard-to-Handle Materials with a Horizontal Motion Conveyor

Dallas, Texas – Finding equipment that can smoothly and efficiently move a fragile, easily agglomerated, dusty, or light-density dry bulk material, a material with interlocking shapes, or a blend of materials with widely varying bulk densities can present an enormous challenge in a dry processing plant. This article introduces you to one machine that can answer that challege - the horizontal motion conveyor, which gently impels material without segregating, aerating, or stratifying particles. Read the entire story as printed in Powder and Bulk Engineering.

Gentle Horizontal Motion Conveyors Protect Delicate Pharmaceuticals

Slipstick Horizontal Motion Conveyor

Dallas, Texas – The gentle motion of the Slipstick® practically eliminates conveyor-imposed product damage on even the most delicate pharmaceuticals. Conventional vibratory conveyors use a vertical pitching motion in which the impact of the pan on the product moves the material. This violent action can degrade fragile pharmaceutical products.  In contrast, the Slipstick uses a gentle horizontal, slow-advance, quick-return motion to move the product, without damage. A further advantage is that the consistent conveying motion throughout the length, width and depth of the product bed discourages build-up of materials on the conveying surface.

The Slipstick’s enclosed drive configuration eliminates springs, rollers, and belts, promoting safety for operating personnel. And because there are no external moving parts, Slipstick conveyor systems are easily cleaned for a high level of sanitation.

Since 1888, Triple/S Dynamics has been providing specialized conveying and dry-bulk-material separation equipment to the food, chemical, agricultural, mining, recycling and other material processing industries. For more information call 800-527-2116 or

Horizontal Conveyors Well-Suited for Moving Fragile Foods

Sanitary Slipstick

Dallas, Texas – The gentle motion of the Slipstick® horizontal-motion conveyor practically eliminates conveyor-imposed product damage, on even the most fragile foods. By contrast, conventional vibratory conveyors use the impact of the pan on the product to propel the material along the conveyor. This action can degrade fragile products and promote adherence of material to the conveying surface. In contrast, the Slipstick horizontal-motion conveyor uses a slow-advance, quick-return motion, which glides food products down the pan, eliminating breakage problems for such fragile foods as chips, cookies, or cereals.  In the same way, breadings, seasonings and coatings are undisturbed as they move along the Slipstick horizontal conveyor.

The Slipstick also provides a consistent conveying motion throughout the length, width and depth of the product bed, preventing the build-up of oily fines. And since Slipstick is not dependent on impact to provide motion, it conveys deep product beds uniformly without product stratification or agglomeration.

The unique Slipstick design includes no belts, springs and rollers used on conventional conveying systems, eliminating safety risks and reducing maintenance.
